Frequently Asked Questions
The Beans
Diversity Beans are a special type of jelly bean designed to challenge unconscious bias. Each jelly bean color is paired with multiple flavors, creating an experience where you can't rely on the color to determine the flavor. This unique feature helps promote diversity, inclusion, and awareness through a fun, interactive candy experience.
Not exactly! While Diversity Beans are jelly beans, they are different because each color can have multiple, unexpected flavors. Unlike traditional jelly beans where each color corresponds to a specific flavor, Diversity Beans teach you that assumptions based on appearance (or color) can be misleading.
While the majority of Diversity Beans have flavors that don’t match the color, there are occasional moments when the flavor does align with expectations. This design highlights how unconscious biases often lead us to make snap judgments that are inaccurate, but also shows that stereotypes can sometimes appear to be true. By showing both the expected and the unexpected, Diversity Beans serve as a tool for teaching about stereotypes and the complexity of judgment based on appearance.
Each jelly bean color in the Diversity Beans collection has multiple possible flavors. When you eat one, you may get a surprising flavor that doesn't match the color. This unpredictability is designed to encourage open-mindedness and challenge assumptions, much like the way biases can shape our interactions without us realizing.
Yes! Diversity Beans are perfect for games and educational activities. You can use them in a guessing game where players try to identify the flavor without seeing the color, or you can incorporate them into discussions and lessons about diversity and inclusion. They make excellent tools for team-building exercises or diversity training.
Absolutely! Diversity Beans are an innovative tool for teaching about unconscious bias, diversity, and inclusion. By disrupting the common association of color with flavor, they encourage participants to think more deeply about how they perceive others. They're a fun and educational way to engage employees, students, or anyone interested in learning more about inclusion.
Diversity Beans come in a wide variety of flavors, from sweet to sour, fruity to spicy. Each color of the jelly bean is associated with multiple flavors, making every experience unique. The idea is to surprise your taste buds, just as we should be open to surprises in our interactions with people.
Diversity Beans can be used as a tool to teach students about diversity and unconscious bias. You can create a game where each student picks a jelly bean, and they must reflect on how assumptions based on color don’t apply to the jelly beans—just like assumptions about people can be misleading. It's a fun and interactive way to foster a more inclusive environment.
Yes! Diversity Beans are fun for all ages. Whether you're an educator using them to teach students, a business using them for diversity training, or just someone who wants to enjoy a unique treat, Diversity Beans offer a playful way to challenge assumptions and think critically about bias.
